Ġgantija Temples: Among the world’s oldest free-standing structures, these awe-inspiring temples date back to 3,600 BCE—predating even the Pyramids of Egypt. Featured in Graham Hancock’s Ancient Apocalypse, they are believed to hold celestial alignments that connect them to the stars. During our workshop, you’ll experience these ancient wonders first-hand, exploring their unique connection to the cosmos.
Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary: This revered site, known for its miraculous history, combines serene architecture with sweeping views of Gozo’s rolling hills. It offers a moment of tranquillity and a glimpse into the island’s spiritual heart.
The Citadel in Victoria: Dominating Gozo’s capital, this historic fortress city boasts panoramic views of the island, winding streets, and ancient walls that echo its resilient past. A visit to the Citadel is a journey through time, providing inspiration for photographers and history enthusiasts alike.

By day, we’ll explore these iconic landmarks, offering insight into Gozo’s cultural and historical significance, while providing opportunities to capture stunning daylight shots of the island’s rich landscapes and architectural marvels.

Day 01 :

Arrival and Check-in

You are welcome to arrive and check into your accommodation from 15:00 onwards. The evening is yours to unwind, settle in, and get comfortable with the surroundings. Use this time to relax after your journey, organise your equipment, and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 02 :

Welcome Meeting, Exploring Ġgantija Temples & Evening Astrophotography Demonstration

Morning: The workshop begins with a welcome meeting from 10:30 - 11:30, where I’ll introduce myself and provide an outline of the week ahead. This session is a chance to ask questions, get to know each other, and prepare for our first exploration and astrophotography session.
Lunch Break: Enjoy lunch at your leisure and take some time to relax or prepare for the afternoon.
Afternoon: At 14:30, we’ll visit the Ġgantija Temples in Xagħra, one of the world’s oldest free-standing structures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating back to 3600–3200 BCE, these Neolithic temples are famed for their massive limestone blocks and remarkable architectural design. Recently featured in Ancient Apocalypse with Graham Hancock, the site offers a fascinating connection to Malta’s ancient past.
Evening: At 19:30, you’ll be collected from your accommodation and transported to a scenic location ideal for astrophotography. During this session, I’ll provide a practical demonstration, teaching you how to set up your camera for night photography, adjust settings, and compose your shots. This is your opportunity to practise these techniques while capturing Gozo’s stunning night sky. We aim to return to the hotel by midnight.

Day 03 :

Discovering Ta' Pinu Sanctuary & Evening Astrophotography Session

Morning: From 10:30 - 12:30, we’ll visit the tranquil Ta' Pinu Sanctuary in Għarb. This breathtaking Romanesque basilica, perched on a hill, is steeped in history and spirituality. Its intricate stonework and serene surroundings offer excellent photographic opportunities and insight into Gozo’s cultural significance.
Lunch Break: Enjoy lunch at your leisure, and take time to explore or relax before the evening session.
Evening: At 19:30, you’ll be collected and transported to another scenic location for an astrophotography session. Building on the techniques introduced the night before, I’ll guide you through advanced methods for capturing the stars and constellations. We aim to return to the hotel by midnight.

Day 04 :

Exploring the Citadel, Leisure Time & Final Night Photography Session

Morning: From 10:30 - 12:30, we’ll explore the iconic Citadel in Victoria, Gozo’s medieval fortified city. With its ancient walls, winding streets, and panoramic views over the island, the Citadel provides a glimpse into Gozo’s resilient history and serves as an exceptional setting for photography and exploration.
Afternoon: Enjoy a leisurely afternoon to relax or explore more of Gozo at your own pace. This is an excellent time to visit local attractions or simply enjoy the vibrant island atmosphere.
Evening: At 19:30, you’ll be collected and transported to our final scenic location for the last astrophotography session. This is your chance to apply everything you’ve learned throughout the workshop, capturing Gozo’s night sky at its best. We aim to return to the hotel by midnight, where I’ll bid everyone a fond farewell.

Day 05 :

Departure

After breakfast, you’ll check out and make your way back to the airport, leaving with incredible memories and a portfolio of stunning night-sky images to treasure.
